Ohio Onesies

After a grueling trip from Hong Kong, then Singapore, a "brief" stay in L.A., a overlong bus ride in the middle of the night to San Fran and a cross country train to Chicago, I have finally ended up at a place right around the corner from my childhood home in Ohio.

Therefore, I thought it 'fitting' that I do at least one post from this location.

Turns out...the original makers of BVD's "Atlas Underwear Co." is about 1.5 hours from here.

AND that the town Piqua, Ohio is the site for the Captain Underpants series.

They used to have a National Underwear Festival but apparently it became too risque for the locals to enjoy it and they shut it down along with the last underwear factory in 1993.

What a story!

While this tale has very little to do with the afterlife, it has a great deal to do with underwear...but I'll try to dig a little something up for our loyal readers.

So..first off...the Atlas Underwear Company:

Originally, the "Piqua Underwear Company", bought by new owners, became "Atlas Underwear Company" then "Allen-A" Yes! THAT Allen-A

(maker of one of my favorite underwear ads of all time)

"Atlas also made socks, swim suits, handkerchiefs, sport shirts, pajamas and men’s briefs."

And also were the original chain supplier for BVD's....

(and again, we must inquire as to the nature of an advertisement wherein 3 grown men are sitting around chatting in their underwear...)

For a little blurb on wiki about Piqua:

And last but certainly no least....Piqua...haunted????

"Fort Piqua Hotel – This old hotel is the site of multiple hauntings and deaths. A man digging a trench for the sewers was buried alive, a porter was crushed after heavy bags fell on him from a cart, and a workman standing on a barrel of acid fell through and was badly burned. A man hanged himself in one of the rooms and workers found skeletons when they were digging the basement. On August 11, 1970, Piqua Police Patrolman Jan Mulder II was on patrol in the hotel’s lobby when he approached a suspicious man. The man pulled a gun and fatally wounded Officer Mulder. Before Mulder hit the ground, he managed to fire one shot at the suspect, killing him. A ghostly waiter haunts the building, along with Stanhope Boal, who renovated the building in 1914. Many other unexplained and mysterious happenings are known to occur there. The building is abandoned for the most part, with the exception of the street-level stores and apartments above them."

Which MEANS...da da da DA DA DA! It is likely that one or more of the ghosts at the hotel was employed by Atlas Underwear Company!

Now...if I could only work in some yokai....oh wait! I know how! See Yokai House's special 2021 season Yurei Print brief and t-shirt set!

Anyway, that's all I have for the moment....
