Afterpants: Undemons (kallikantzaros)

Todays Undemons are called "kallikantzaros"

These are underworld residents that get to "visit" our world for a period of time at the end of December/beginning of January.

Hailing from SE European lores/ underworlds...they appear as large or small, black, demonic creatures.

Their job is...apparently, trying to cut down the world tree and end the world.

Their weakness is that, when they visit our world once a year, the tree heals itself and they have to begin again.

There are a lot of references to these underworld entities in the lore of southern Europe and in fine, fine Asian tradition...there are offerings you make to the spirits to appease them!
